Asana

Asana is a practice to attune body, mind, breath with heart. When teaching, I draw on the many styles of yoga that I have been exposed to in order find what resonates with you. I enjoy working with the beginner as well as the seasoned practitioner. I love gentle yoga as much as a dynamic vinyasa practice and everything in between is equally precious to me. I intend to provide a mindful experiential session that is in accordance with the needs and space of that moment. I am specific with alignment in order to create a safe place for you to explore within your body and to tap into the vital information it has for you.

Asana works on many levels of the physical body, ranging from muscles and bones to circulatory and nervous systems. It also helps you to heal on the level of what has been stored and lock up in the body, resulting as stress and tension. Think, “My body as my biography”.  All that we have experienced while in this body, in some form, exists in this body. You will get stronger and more flexible on many levels. In this practice, the breath is the gateway, pathway and segway. During a session you will be encourage to allow the breath to be the gateway through to the heart of each asana. The consistent focus on breath after breath cuts through the weeds of the mind and forms this magnificent pathway; where breath is, mind will follow. When the mind becomes distracted by thoughts from the past or with the list of chores that we must get to and especially when the mind places expectation on how we “should” be, the breath is the segway back to this heart filled practice.  I mention heart filled because at the core of this practice there is a connection to yourself in such a way that you begin to offer yourself the same attention and presence you would a dear friend. We learn acceptance as well as letting go of expectation of what we can and more importantly what we think we can not do.

Asana can redefine how you stand in
your body. Our heart bursts open when
we stand in a place of being perfectly
satisfied with who we are, as we are.
The vibration of an open heart is
exactly what we are attracted to
in those who we so admire.
